A New Way to Get People Around? SkyTran

I was contacted today by a gentleman from Marin who is a proponent of what is called SkyTran. Essentially, it is a low-cost, high-speed, non-stop personal rapid transit system. The idea is to eliminate mass transit altogether by giving people their own personal pods. It seems like a great idea--we would obviously still need cars, but it would certainly cut down on freeway and city congestion. There is only one potential problem I see: If we are removing tens of thousands of commuters from the roads, how will there be enough pods for them? Maybe there would be, but the video below has me thinking otherwise. This doesn't seem like an unfixable problem, though, if it were to arise. Another thought: busy stations might develop long queues to get onto the non-stop track. Check out the very user-friendly website for more diagrams and info.
